Firestarters!

Skip the lighter fluid and chemical starter cubes. In this hands-on class, you’ll make a batch of natural firestarters from beeswax and simple materials like pinecones, wood shavings, cotton, and dried herbs. They light easily, burn steadily, and work for wood stoves, fireplaces, campfires, and backyard fire pits.

We’ll cover how to melt and work with beeswax safely, which materials make the best fuel, and a few different styles of firestarter, from dipped pinecones to egg-carton cups. You’ll also learn simple ways to make them pretty enough to give as gifts.

You’ll go home with: a batch of firestarters you made yourself, plus the know-how to make more at home.
