“I have dealt with gastrointestinal issues for years, with little help from my PCP. I saw Heather for an Herbal Consult and she had some very simple, easy-to-follow ideas to ease my symptoms. She also followed through with additional resources and guided me through my elimination diet. After a couple of months, my symptoms massively improved and I am living a much more comfortable life! Thank you, Heather, for helping me improve my quality of life and overall wellness!”
- Emily
“A friend recommended to go here and I just love this place. From the tea options to the essential oils and much more. Friendly staff will definitely go back again!!!”

Frequently Asked Questions
Which herbs can help me to stay healthy during the winter? There are many options here, but some of our favorites are mushrooms! Many medicinal mushrooms have strong immune support actions. We like to add astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) into our broths/soups and teas beginning early in the fall as it supports a healthy immune system. Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) is another commonly used herb – although often with a heavy dose of sugar, which we aren’t too keen on. But, in your tea or even in baked goods, it can definitely support a stronger immune system.
What’s the best herb for my gut / my head / my sore throat? There is no one answer to any question like this; we all exhibit different symptoms, and we all respond to herbs differently. Your sore throat may be scratchy and wet; mine might be hot and dry. You may have a cough, but I may not. Herbalists ask many questions to understand your symptoms so we can give the best recommendations – it isn’t just a matter of grabbing something off a shelf that will work for everyone. Many factors are involved, from nutrition and hydration to symptoms to whether you are regularly hot or cold, moist or dry.
Why don’t you offer a greater variety of supplements? Sometimes, supplements can be really beneficial, so we are not anti-supplement. However, we can obtain a good amount – indeed, often all that we need – of the phytonutrients in plants through our foods and teas. For example, I don’t carry turmeric as a supplement. We can eat turmeric, enjoy a lovely holy basil tea, and consume anti-inflammatory foods to reduce systemic inflammation, without getting the side effects that I often see in folks who have been consuming high doses of turmeric in pill form. I can’t tell you the number of times I have had people complain about stomach upset with turmeric supplementation! However there are some things that are just really hard to get enough of in our diets, so then supplements are a great addition.
Why don’t you make all of your own herbal products? There are many kinds of herbalists – growers, product makers, educators, retailers, and clinicians. It is incredibly difficult to do all of these things well, or to have the time to devote to them. Our passions are growing, educating, and clinical herbalism, which is defined as working with people to incorporate herbs to support their health. To follow the letter of the law, product makers need to follow very clearly defined regulations, including batch testing. All herbal products companies, large and small, must follow the US Food and Drug Administration's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). These regulations require: Ingredient identification: Companies must test ingredients to ensure their identity, purity, strength, and composition. This is especially important for herbal products, as it can be difficult and expensive to identify smaller ingredients like powdered herbs. Production and process controls: Companies must use approved procedures, batch records, and process validation to ensure consistency and reproducibility of product quality. They must also adhere to a master formula for each product throughout the manufacturing process. Manufacturing conditions: Companies must maintain appropriate manufacturing conditions, such as temperature and humidity control. Hygiene and sanitation: Companies must ensure proper hygiene and sanitation. Personnel: Companies must have qualified personnel with adequate training. Records: Companies must keep records accurate and complete. Equipment: Companies must perform regular equipment calibration and maintenance. Unfortunately, complying with these regulations is expensive and require excellent quality control. This not always followed by small product makers, which is why we cannot sell some products made by producers in the area, because we could be liable if there was an unintended consequence when the product was used.
